Anzac biscuits for camping

Notes

To achieve the crunchy or the chewy biscuit you will need to play with the cooking time and the temperature of the oven.

General rule – soft biscuits decrease the temperature and the baking time.
As for me it depends on my mood – as you can never go wrong with an Anzac biscuit in your sack.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of rolled oats
  • 1 cup of plan flour (sifted)
  • 1 cup of packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of desiccated coconut
  • 125 g of butter
  • 2 tbsp golden syrup or treacle
  • 1 1/2 tbsp water
  • 1/2 tsp bicarb of soda

Instructions

    • Preheat oven to 160c
    • Grease the baking trays and line with baking paper
    • Combine dry ingredients
    • Put butter, syrup and water in a small pot and stir over a low heat until it mixes together and is a smooth consistency
    • Stir in the bicarb of soda
    • Mix it all into the dry ingredients
    • Roll into balls of the same sizes, place on tray and slightly flatten the balls
    • Place roughly 5 cm apart as they will spread as they bake
    • 20 minutes or until golden brown
    • Cool and eat
