Campfire on the beach in Australia

Take the paper plates and bowls

Something I do when camping is to take paper plates and bowls. Just the simple unwaxed one-use type. You can still take your plastic, melamine or best china plates to provide a sturdy base.

But, serving up on the paper saves a hell of a lot of effort when it comes to washing up. You can bin the paper after – or better yet, whack it on the fire.

Having some paper plate alternatives on hand for the times it just is not convenient to use standard plates is the smart thing to do, in my humble opinion. We keep these convenient little treasures packed away in our van – and yes they have a spot of their own right beside the checklist we have printed on the inside of our pantry door in the van.

Games when you take the paper

The paper plates also work well for games such as playing frisby with the little ones or using them as the basis for other craft activities. We have used these little gems to amuse the younger ones as there are endless activities for indoor amusement when it starts to rain.  The clock face and other faces made with paper plates are endless.
