Ipswich a town near Brisbane
Visiting the Ipswich Visitor Information Centre
Ipswich has so much to offer the traveller and visitor. But, it’s way too easy to unconsciously stay on the main drags and slide on past as you travel to other destinations.
Whether you’re travelling along the Ipswich Motorway (M7) to/from Brisbane; the Warrego Highway (Darren Lockyer Way M2) to/from Toowoomba; the Cunningham Highway (Route 15) to/from Warwick; the Centenary Highway Extension (M5) through Springfield; or even the more arterial roads of Moggill Road or Mount Crosby Road, please give careful consideration to dropping into Ipswich for a few hours – or perhaps days.
There’s more than one way to Ipswich
You can even start your diversion to Ipswich by coming in from Boonah, on the Ipswich-Boonah Road, or from Gatton, through Laidley, Grandchester and Rosewood on the Rosewood-Laidley Road (part of the enjoyable Cob and Co Tourist Drive).
Plus the best way to start any visit to any town or city is to pop in to see the great staff at the Visitor Information Centre.
In Ipswich, the Visitor Information Centre is located just on the eastern outskirts of the city’s CBD in Queens Park on a short stretch of Brisbane Road called Queen Victoria Parade (between Chermside Road and Milford Street).
Best access to caravan (and holiday maker) parking at the Centre is off Chermside Road from any direction – and perhaps Brisbane Road (Queen Victoria Parade) but only if you’re heading west. Please refer to the what3words addresses below.
So, keep an eye out for the ‘Ipswich’ destination signs and the yellow information centre symbol as you come into, or find yourself sliding past, Ipswich at Blacksoil, Riverview or Yamanto.
At the Ipswich Visitor Information Centre
While you’re at the Visitor Information Centre, be sure to take the kids to Queens Park for some swings and a visit to the Ipswich Nature Centre (gold coin donation) – and perhaps visit the Nerima (Japanese) Gardens for the garden lovers.
When you do pop in to the Visitor Information Centre, have a chat with the staff; grab a brochure, some maps; have a pot of ‘Ipswich Blend’ tea, and please say hi from me – Out&About with Dayv.
