Ingredients
- Filling
- 6 Granny Smith green apples - cut thick with seeds cut out
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons of butter
- 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
- 4 tablespoons of self-raising flour
- Crumble Layer
- 1/2 cup of self-raising flour
- 150 g of butter
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 1 handful of sultanas (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/2 cup of oats
Instructions
- Prepare camp fire earlier and have some good coals ready to go.
- Mix filling ingredients
- Line camp oven with baking paper
- Place filling into the camp oven and place near fire with a medium amount coals on top
- Cook until apple is soft - about an hour
- Mix the flour and butter with a fork in a bowl
- Add sugar, cinnamon and oats
- Place on top of filling mix in the camp oven once apple is soft
- Cover with more coals on the lid to get a nice golden brown crusty top layer
- This will take about an hour - but watch carefully so as not to burn
