Travel Radius Apps for Your Day-Trip Travels post COVID-19 Qld
If you’re a Queenslander, you’re probably wondering where 150km from your home will get you from this Saturday (16 May 2020) for travelling and day-trips as we re-emerge from the COVID-19 isolation requirements.
For those Queenslanders in the Outback regions, you’ll be keen to know where the 500km radius is.
Naturally, this can apply for anyone anywhere, where their travel (and possibly camping) trips are limited by a radius.
So, I’ve listed below a couple of Apps that you can download to your mobile – in both Apple and Android formats.
Apple
Radius: Distance From Me
https://apps.apple.com/au/app/radius-distance-from-me/id1507604241
This app is great for a quick and simple radius check from where you are at that time. If you’re at home, this will give you a radius from there for the distance you set.
Radius Map
https://apps.apple.com/au/app/radius-map/id816197437
This one is a little trickier, but it does allow you to select a location other than where you are. First you create a New Data and give it a name, then you select the Centre for the radius by zooming and dropping a pin or typing / searching an address and then dropping the pin. You will then be prompted for a radius in METRES – so you’ll need to enter ‘000’ after the number (150) to get kilometres (you probably don’t want to be limited to 150m).
An advantage of this one is that (if you want to do a bit of fiddling) you can drop a pin on somewhere you want to go and see who, of your friends, can also go there – ie working backwards.
Android
I’m unable to review these at this stage as I only have Apple devices. But, please drop me a line if you can offer any details.
