Koreelah to Jackadgery
(KYOGLE AND CLARENCE VALLEY REGIONS, NSW)
I’ve published this trip using Roadtrippers. It’s available as an app or on the web. It appears to be fairly USA centric (but still some great travel ideas and photos) – but I’m keen to bring some real Australian flavour to this through Out&About with Dayv as I share my travels and camps with you.
The Start Point is the camp grounds at Koreelah National Park. This is in the valley to the south of Condamine Gorge in Northern New South Wales, near White Swamp.
The finish point Jackadgery and the bridge over the Mann River.
The Finish Point will take you to Jackadgery and the bridge over the Mann River, not far from the Mann River Caravan Park (w3w.co/itches.aero.clowns).
Camping spots
There’s plenty of camping along the way with places like Paddy’s Flat and Lillydale just screaming out for a quiet nights stay on the Clarence River. Facilities are limited at these places so be sure to come prepared. Or, there’s places like Clarence River Wildness Lodge (w3w.co/catty.pack.brawl) just off the Paddy’s Flat Road.
How Long Is The trip?
This trip is just over 200kms long and is about 90% (or more) on dirt/gravel. Good ground clearance would be required and certainly 4X4 if it’s been raining. While its a relatively short trip, I’d suggest that you fill up with fuel at Kilarney or Boonah because Koreelah is about 150kms from Brisbane (also to buy local).
Keeping The Trip Interesting
In the interest of keeping somethings a surprise, I won’t give you a turn-by-turn cheat list. But, I will suggest that you take your time to enjoy this very accessible piece of New South Wales and be sure to jump in the Clarence at least once, enjoy a creek side lunch stop, check out the old WWII Tank Traps in the scrub on the left-hand side just to the south of Paddy’s Flat, the great views down into the Clarence Valley as you head down Plains Station Road (at w3w.co/winced.nation.alignment) and be sure to stop at Newbold Lookout (w3w.co/ovens.spaceship.lodgings) for a look down into the Clarence Gorge.
